Singer-songwriter, ex-actress and three-time Grammy award popstar Olivia Rodrigo is releasing her third album “you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love” at 9 p.m. PST on June 11, 2026 and released her lead hit single “drop dead” on April 16.

Prior to the release, a wall in Los Angeles at 7010 Melrose Ave (at Sycamore Ave) was painted purple with a brand new logo on March 13. Her logo went from a cartoony “OR” to a cute cursive “OR” with a heart. For six days, the wall slowly went from her previous albums’ purple shade to a light pink and on the final day, March 20, the word “love” appeared in the same cursive font.
While the wall was changing, on March 20 a lock was found in London with the word “april.” Then, two more were found in New Jersey, saying “drop” and New York, saying “rainbow.” Together, fans scrambled the words to find the hidden meaning “drop on April 3 (Rainbow day).”
Megan Pyott, a senior in COMPASS, says “I think the hints are smart, the locks in different places with the name of her first single from the album coming out is so much fun,” an opinion many of her fans share.
On April 1, Rodrigo took down all her Instagram posts, and the next day, the wall was changed to say the album name, “you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love.”
Pyott continued, “As for the vibe of the new album from hints and words on one of her posts, leads me to think it’s gonna be something around the concept of love, good or bad. Either way I’m excited.”
Four videos were posted on Rodrigo’s Instagram on April 1, all featuring her putting locks in different locations with words on them to spell out “drop dead April 17,” her new lead single.
The song was released and the video was filmed at the Palace of Versailles. Lyrics mentioned the popular French destination with “You look like an angel on the walls of Versailles,” and was about the excitement of a first date, stating “Kiss me and I might drop dead.” The song debuted on Billboard’s #1 on the top 100 list, making her “the first artists to debut the lead singles from their first three studio albums at No.1” according to Billboards Charts on Instagram.
Another huge fan of Rodrigo since her Disney channel days and debut, COMPASS senior, Dan Wong explained, “She had mentioned in one interview that ‘drop dead’ was the first kind of chapter of ‘you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love’ I think it would be like this first section of the album is these lovey dovey songs and the second half of the album is sad songs, I really hope she leans into that angst for those sad songs,” sharing his theory for the rest of the album. Many fans like Wong believe that the album will follow from the beginning to end of a relationship.
Rodrigo was on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on April 30 to discuss her new album. She will also be the musical guest and only host of Saturday Night Live on May 2 where she will be performing “drop dead” and an unreleased song.
After 3 years of waiting for a new album, fans are ecstatic for the album and tour announced April 30, “The Unraveled Tour,” with general presale starting May 7, 12 p.m local.

On May 1, 2026, Ryhan Keffer wrote an article titled “The Build Up Olivia Rodrigo’s third album, “you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love”. The article creates a strong sense of excitement around Olivia Rodrigo’s new album, especially by focusing on the creative rollout leading up to its release. The descriptions of the wall in Los Angeles and the hidden locks in different locations make the story feel interesting and keep the reader engaged. This article goes into detail about the events leading up to Rodrigo’s much anticipated album releasing on June 11. Being an Olvia Rodrigo fan myself, I am very excited for her new album drop and am a huge fan of her single “drop dead”. Keffer goes into detail about the Olivia Rdrigo wall in LA which revealed different clues leading up to the release. The wall color kept changing and a lock was found in London, then 2 in New Jersey to reveal a hidden meaning: “drop on April 3 (Rainbow day)”. I enjoyed the interviews included by Keffer about the different perspectives students have and how they have interpreted the clues. Keffer also takes note of Rodrigo’s appearance on the Jimmy Fallon Show and how she would be appearing on SNL as the host and musical guest where she performed drop dead and an unreleased song. This article does a good job of keeping fans updated and makes me more excited for this new album.

Firstly, the title of this article is a bit confusing on the second read; it seems as though there should be an “of” between “The Build up,” and “Olivia Rodrigo…” Other than this small detail, the overall article is very interesting and informational. I appreciate Keffer’s description of the gradual growth of Rodrigo’s advertising of the album from the wall, to the locks, to her Instagram. It makes a fun puzzle for her fans to piece together her hints; Keffer acknowledges this tactic. The use of quotes from Millikan students reflects how a lot of her fans are theorizing about the album. It creates a personal and recognizable connection. The data from Billboard Charts highlights her massive success and popularity, adding importance to the article and the hype about her new album. All in all, I enjoyed reading this article and Keffer illustrates new details many may have missed.

In her article, Keffer vividly describes the hints that the famous pop artist, Olivia Rodrigo, left for her fans on the release of her new hottest single “Drop Dead”. She clearly illustrates the hints that were being dropped for Olivia Rodrigo’s fans in Los Angeles, New Jersey, London, and New York. I enjoyed learning and following along with the puzzle pieces that her fans assembled to find the hidden meaning “drop on April 3 (Rainbow day).” She captures the excitement of two Millikan students who have long been fans of Olivia Rodrigo. Thus offering differing responses on the release of “Drop Dead”. Lastly, I appreciate how she includes the future dates for Olivia Rodrigo’s appearance on Saturday Night light so her fans could take the opportunity to watch Rodrigo perform. Keffer takes the extra step to consider her audience by doing so.

Dear Corydon Editor,
On May 1, 2026, Rhyan Keffer wrote an article titled “The Build Up Olivia Rodrigo’s third album ‘you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love’”. I read this while perusing the latest articles among the Corydon, and Keffer’s article has sparked my continued interest in the latest pop culture and encouraged me to begin listening to Olivia Rodrigo’s newest work. Keffer describes the surge of Olivia Rodrigo, a Grammy-Award winning singer and pop artist, amidst the release of her newest album, “you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love” and her impact on the public’s anticipation. As she discussed, she theorizes that “Many fans [including herself] believe that the album will follow from the beginning to end of a relationship [throughout the progression of the tracklist]”. Not only does she share multiple viewpoints and thorough analysis of Rodrigo’s newest album, but she embodies the forthcoming release of Rodrigo. Keffer allows for the audience to gain additional knowledge of the subject of the pop star’s expected release. I applaud her dedication and diligence to this subject, and I surely agree with the excitement aroused around the topic of Olivia Rodrigo’s “you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love”.
I acknowledge each aspect of Keffer’s article, and I am quite interested in the topic that she discusses. I believe that one of the many strengths of her work is in the perspectives observed from the interviewees, which is meticulously crafted to include the audience: Millikan’s students. More specifically, her progression throughout the entire article contributes to a prolonged conversation between the recent events of Rodrigo and the response of the public. I wish that there was additional information detailing Rodrigo’s perception on her album in order for the audience to witness her intent behind the world. Additionally, I believe that increasing emphasis of the interpretation or expectations of the album would be pivotal in the structure of this article, which offers the audience a multitude of complexities able to be digested for any curious minds. If both the opinions of the pop star and the expectations/predictions for the album were highlighted, then the claims and interpretation of the audience could be validated and conversation of her work could be brought to the next level.
To summarize, “The Build Up Olivia Rodrigo’s third album ‘you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love’” is an amazing article that has led many, including myself, to appreciate and anticipate Olivia Rodrigo’s work, set to release on June 11, 2026. I respect this article’s content and Keffer’s intent behind this piece, as well as the lasting impact it has on the audience.
Sincerely,
Liam Lee Balmeo

I also really appreciate how this article includes the many easter eggs she has been leaving in other countries leading up to her album. The interviews also add credibility since we are hearing the many opinions fellow fans are thinking of the hints she has placed around the world.
