On May 23, Millikan High School will hold its annual Dance Show, consisting of dancers of all levels, from beginner to advanced, as well as Ballet Folklórico dancers. The theme this year is Storytellers, different stories being expressed through dance.

Lindsey Sylva, a QUEST junior, choreographed the dance for Dance 5-6. “Our story is basically about just trying to get other people around us to have fun and be a part of the party,” states Sylva. “It starts with everybody being kind of boring, and then there’s one person that kind of inspires everybody else.”
Millikan Dance teacher, Mrs. Waters, states that, “Through movement, music, emotion, and performance, each piece communicates a different message or experience. Some dances explore themes of friendship, family, love, and personal growth, while others celebrate joy, creativity, resilience, or simply the excitement and freedom that dance brings.” She adds that, “[the show] will feature a wide variety of dance styles, including hip hop, tap, contemporary, jazz, lyrical, and more. Each genre brings its own energy, movement quality, and artistic voice to the performance.”
This year’s Dance Show also happened to be the event to take place at the auditorium before the construction starts at the beginning of summer.
