Water Polo Makes a Splash in the Competition

By Liana Ngauv

With school starting, Millikan’s boys water polo team swims into a new season. So far, in non-tournament wins, the Junior Varsity team is 4-3.

On September 14, the team played against Bosco, resulting in a win. Two days later, they competed against Segerstrom, and gained another win. The JV team then played against Cabrillo on September 30, resulting in yet another success. Their most recent victory was against Pacifica, going 12-4 on October 5.

Aside from school practice, some of the team takes time out of their personal life to practice and garner their skills.

“We found ways to practice like we used the beach for some practice when we weren’t with coaches,” says Valentino Garcia, a Junior in SEGA.

“I think our season is gonna be really good and we’re doing [well so far], but we still have a lot to learn.” states Garcia.

Come support the JV team on their next game on October 20th against Poly.
