Siblings Mckenna Rosenberg, QUEST sophomore, and Fletcher Rosenberg, QUEST senior began the Student Athlete Club at Millikan at the beginning of last school year as a resource for Millikan students navigating both academics and athletics.
With their respective sports, the siblings discovered that they were facing similar challenges and stresses while balancing the pressures of academics and athletics. They understood that other student-athletes might be experiencing similar stresses as well and hoped to encourage leadership among athletes by sharing ideas, advice, and experiences.

The club was created to address multiple topics of importance such as setting goals, building team chemistry, stress management and working through failure. During lunchtime club meetings, the board facilitates important guides to student-athlete success from advice received from a google form sent to various National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and Major League Baseball (MLB) athletes and coaches.
With meetings during lunchtime beginning humbly as a way to celebrate student athlete achievement together, the club has since grown to feature a distinguished speaker series, afterschool events with guest speaker appearances hosted at Millikan and open to all. First USA Women’s Olympic Waterpolo Coach Adam Krikorian last year and USC Men’s Volleyball Head Coach Jeff Nygaard this year.

“Around 40-60 people attend consisting of athletes, parents, and coaches, to hear from professionals who have gone through these experiences and share their own to hopefully inspire student-athletes,” says Mckenna.
The club’s main goal remains the same: to motivate and encourage students to participate in sports while also balancing academics. With expert coaches, they’ve been able to share how to navigate both education and a sport at the same time.
“We want everyone to know that we’re open to everybody and we really want this to be a student-run club that aligns with advice that our club members find useful,” says Fletcher.
After a Wilson student and family attended a distinguished speaker session, they reached out hoping to expand the club to Woodrow Wilson High School, establishing a branch there and marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter. This growth reflects a shared commitment not defined by rivalry but by unity in support of student-athlete success.
“When it all boils down we’re all athletes so we hope that we all can benefit from the advice that others are willing to share with us, no matter if we’re rivals or not,” says Mckenna.
Join Student Athlete Club every 2nd Friday of the month in room 583 to be a part of the amazing community of student-athletes at Millikan. Their next meeting will be April 17, 2026. The Millikan community continues to do great things. The initiative of Student Athlete Club is one great example of two Rams who want to make a difference at their school and empower their communities.
