The Global time clock indicates that there are only four years left to enact change and limit global warming to 1.5 °C above pre-industrial levels, the threshold scientists say is critical in avoiding some of the worst impacts of climate change.
Ms.Cox the AP Biology Teacher stated, “We’ve also had a huge rise in human population size during this time frame, which puts a strain on the resources available to us. We’re also changing the environment around us-pavement and concrete absorb and retain a lot more heat than dirt, sand, or grass.”

On Oct. 21, 2025, three mosquito specimens were discovered by Björn Hjaltason in the town of Kjós, Iceland, and were subsequently sent to the National Science Institute of Iceland for identification. Iceland and Antarctica were the only two regions where mosquitoes could not be found. Rising temperatures and the influx of transportation are now creating environments where insects like these can survive, a signal to the seriousness of global warming.
Delila Perez, a 12th grade student in QUEST stated, “It’s insane, I think that the mosquitoes in Iceland are a sign of how extreme these shifts in our environment are.”
Our oceans are under severe stress, too. The 2023-2025 coral bleaching event is still an ongoing environmental disaster that represents the most extensive event affecting 84% of the world’s reefs.
Coral bleaching is when corals become stressed by changes in their environment, more commonly as of now stemming from increasing sea temperatures and UV radiation. In response, they expel their symbiotic microscopic algae in their tissues, which also provides them with their bright colors, ultimately killing them and the ecosystems around them.
Younger generations are increasingly being called upon to confront the consequences of decades of industrial pollution. Around the world, youth movements, educational programs, and community initiatives are working toward reducing emissions and developing new technology in promoting sustainable actions to fight climate change.
Greta ThunBurg for example, is a 22 year-old Swedish climate change activist who garnered attention for her advocacy of climate justice, leading a movement as part of the younger generations. Being widely recognized for the clip other saying “how dare you!” at the U.N. Climate Action Summit.
Immediate, large-scale reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, international cooperation, reduced reliance on fossil fuels, restoration of natural ecosystems, and an expansion of renewable energy are all necessary to prevent irreversible environmental damage.

On November 23, 2025, Jade Chuong wrote an article titled “The Climate Clock is Running Out of Time”. I found this article to be both interesting and educational. I am also very interested in the topic of climate change, so this article immediately caught my attention. While reading the article I was very happy with the amount of information and detail within it. It is very clear that Chuong is very passionate about this topic and that she had done her research on it as well. One section that I found particularly interesting was the coral bleaching section of the text.. This is because coral bleaching is a very serious effect of climate change that still doesn’t get enough attention, so it was nice to see it be brought to light in this article. However, while Chuong does include quite a bit of information about coral reefs and how they are being affected, there is not real information regarding their importance in the ecosystem. Other than that the article is very well written, educational, and captivating. I very much enjoyed reading it and even learned some new things.
