For flag football only starting three years ago, Millikan’s flag football team had a strong season winning the Moore League title this year.
CIF voted and approved girls flag football to be added as a statewide sport in ’22-’23. Millikan’s team started in the ’23-’24 , Romeo Pellum, coach of the Millikan girls flag football, football coach, and student intervention specialist says, “I was intrigued with the idea of a coaching flag to see how it would go, then I started really liking it.”
Millikan won the Moore League title with a record of 6-1. The league loss was to Long Beach Poly. Thankfully, the Rams got to redeem themselves with another game against Poly and beat them 14-6. Coach Pellum says, “I was more so happy for the girls because it meant so much to them and they put so much into it. They never quit, they were fighting.”

Kayla Cisneros, a senior in COMPASS, and a center for the flag football team says, “All the adrenaline we had when we won [the Moore league] game, we all celebrated as a team after. It was just that moment you have with the team and how special it is.”
After winning the Moore league title, they moved into CIF, they went into the first round at home against Valencia winning 7-6. Then in the second round, they went on the road to Glendora, losing 12-13. Cisneros says, “A piece I would give to the underclassmen (of the flag football team), is to play with no fear. Just go out [and play strong].”
Although the flag football season had to come to an end for now, they plan to work even harder next season. Pellum expresses, “We definitely wanna win the Moore league title again next year, we also wanna make it past the second playoff game, we have been there in that spot for two years, we just got to figure out how to get past that.”
