On Sept. 28, 2025, the NFL officially announced Bad Bunny as the 2026 Super Bowl LX halftime show performer, scheduled for Feb. 8, 2026, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. This marks his first time headlining the event since his initial appearance as a guest performer with Shakira and Jennifer Lopez in the 2020 Superbowl.
Marcus Curry, a senior in SEGA stated, “There hasn’t been a lot of multicultural artists in the halftime show, it’s really interesting to see people’s reactions whether it be negative or positive, I think it’s cool he’s getting a chance.”
Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, more commonly known as Bad Bunny, is a Grammy winning artist from Puerto Rico known for his fusion of Latin Trap and Reggaeton. He’s an advocate for Puerto Rican social justice and culture and garnered popularity and fame in 2016 after the release of his song “Diles” to SoundCloud that subsequently got him signed to the Hear This Music label. His most listened to songs are “Dákiti” and “Mía.”

Ms. Marroquin-Lopez is a QUEST teacher from the Spanish department. “Many Hispanic and Latinx artists, like Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, and J. Balvin, among others, have performed over the years without facing this level of criticism. I think the current political climate has made things more tense, especially when it comes to artists expressing their personal beliefs,” she says.
Following this announcement, the NFL faced both extreme praise and backlash from the public eye. President Donald Trump, a publicly known conservative figure, expressed his feelings about the chosen Superbowl performer calling it, “absolutely ridiculous.” “Bad Bunny has always been open about his views, and that openness seems to have amplified the controversy around his Super Bowl performance,” adds Marroquin-Lopez. “Many people are embracing the fact that he will be singing in Spanish and are even learning Spanish, while others are completely against it, but how can you fight trying to learn the second most spoken language in the United States?”
Most have celebrated the artist representing Latin culture on one of the world’s biggest stages, however, others continue to express concern and dislike for this choice.

Dear Corydon Editor,
On November 4, 2025, Jade Chuong E. wrote an article titled “Bad Bunny Announced as Superbowl LX Halftime Show Performer”. In this article, Jade informs the audience of the ongoing controversy of the upcoming Superbowl performer, Bad Bunny, and his background. When Jade wrote this article, one thing she did well was making sure to thoroughly inform the audience of who the artist Bad Bunny is, and his background. This ensures that if someone in the audience did not know who he was, that they would be well informed, and educated on the matter.
Another thing that Jade did well in the article was making sure to list out only the facts, and making sure to stay impartial on the subject. This is important because it helps the audience form their own opinion on the matter, rather than being swayed by the author to have a certain view on it.
In closing, Jade also makes sure to quote multiple sources, in effort to solidify and back up the information that she provides. This helps create a strong article, and overall strong argument for the audience to read.
Sincerely,
Julian Stout

Since Bad Bunny is one of my favorite artists this article instantly caught my attention. The announcement of Bad Bunny being the performing artist at the Super Bowl was very exciting for me, although it received very controversial opinions. The direct interview quotes from student Marcus Curry and Spanish teacher Ms. Marroquin-Lopez provided insightfulful opinions on the decision. Ms Marroquin-Lopez brings up a great point on how absurd it would be to deny learning Spanish since it is the second most spoken language in the US. As a Spanish speaker myself, I find this to be a great statement since this language connects me to many people in this country and I find it very unfortunate that the current political situation has diminished its importance. Overall, I appreciated the topic of this article despite the amount of hate it has received and found it to be very engaging and beneficial to read.
Sincerely,
Isabel Weaver

The choice for this year’s Super Bowl has definitely raised feedback, many in support of the decision and others refusing to support. Coming from a Puerto Rican family and a Bad Bunny fan myself, this headline is not only a representation for Puerto Rico but a stance for the latin community, and many are in opposition to this. Chuong’s article gives a background of the artist’s accomplishments and what he stands for, detailing how these factors influenced hatred against the halftime show. I appreciated how Chuong’s article includes various interviews to give more insight on the public’s opinion. One interview I found interesting was from a QUEST teacher who expressed how previous latin artists have performed at the half-time show but with today’s current political state, controversy has amplified. Overall, this article gives valuable insight on the controversy with Bad Bunny’s headline and how this represents political conflict in the nation.

I read this article while browsing the Corydons November articles. The title initially caught my attention as someone who listens to Bad Bunny and enjoys his music. I enjoyed reading this article for the differing perspectives you gathered on the decision. I think it’s interesting to see how people interpreted the decision of Bad Bunny being the halftime performer. I felt your inclusion of the fact that multiple Latino artists have performed in the past is important to the discussion about whether people are mad about him singing in spanish or just about his political views. A clarification you included that I felt was necessary for some is that Bad Bunny has performed at the Halftime performance as a guest in the past, however there was not an uproar like this time. Overall, I found this article to be very informational, that will hopefully change some peoples perspectives.

Dear Corydon Editor,
On November 4, 2025, Jade Chuong E wrote an article titled “Bad Bunny announced as Super Bowl LX Halftime Show Performer”. As someone who has seen the different responses to Bad Bunny performing in the Super Bowl, it was interesting to read this article and see student’s opinions within it. I enjoyed how the article gave a background on who Bad Bunny is and how he has performed alongside other artists in the Super Bowl before. The author does a good job at getting a student to give an opinion on what they think of his upcoming performance. It was interesting to learn about the controversy on the performance and I’m glad it was included with the article. I like how the author added opinions such as the president’s and how the NFL received feedback. I feel the author could have added more details on why Bad Bunny is facing the backlash for his Super Bowl show. The article was an interesting and easy read for those intrigued with the events going on surrounding the half-time show.
Sincerely,

I really enjoyed how the author organized the article with what’s going on first and then explaining why it’s so controversial. On that same note, I think adding more information on Bad Bunny’s political views and why Donald Trump chose to say what he did could be helpful. Another thing that can go in hand is explaining more about what’s going on in the world currently, and why having him perform is causing such an uprising. I know that Bad Bunny has refused to perform in the United States for those same reasons so maybe it can include more about that to give the readers more context. The quotes added showed how important the backlash is because Spanish is a widely spoken language which has a lot of historical importance so seeing the representation in something as big as the Super Bowl helps connect to the readers. I also enjoyed how the author included some background information on the artist in order to build onto why he’s so important and how monumental this event will be. This article included both sides of the argument which helped the readers develop their own opinion and not feel biased towards one opinion.

The article is very detailed in explaining how both sides feel about Bad Bunny’s upcoming Halftime Show Performance. For instance, Chuong interviews people to see their initial reaction, in which Ms. Marroquin-Lopez says, “Many Hispanic and Latinx artists, like Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, and J. Balvin, among others, have performed over the years without facing this level of criticism. I think the current political climate has made things more tense, especially when it comes to artists expressing their personal beliefs,” This piece of evidence supports those who are for Bad Bunny’s, which I would also agree would be a good event for Hispanics all around the world to feel proud of their culture and language and unite in these difficult times.
The article captures the idea of how important this event would be for society. Even though people may feel indifferent to the Halftime Show, they should learn to accept and respect the culture of others. question. Praise, concern, correction, suggestion, enhancement, reaction, and/or question. I agree that this representation of Latin culture is an inspiration for many Hispanics all around the world. It motivates them to know that they can become as big as Bad Bunny if they believe in themselves and work as hard as Bad Bunny has worked for his career.
The editor did an amazing job overall when writing the article, by highlighting everything that is surrounding this situation. I think that it really engages all of the audience to learn something they may not have known or agreed with. Bad Bunny is a good person to write an article on especially since he is one of the world’s top artists right now.
Sincerely,
Isabelle Ruvalcaba

Chong E does an excellent job at covering the controversy surrounding Bad Bunny as the upcoming Super Bowl Halftime performer. While many have conflicting opinions on this selection, I am in full support to have Bad Bunny as a halftime performer for the Super Bowl. Coming from an hispanic heritage I feel pride and representation by having a Spanish speaker spread our language, music and culture to the world. Moreover Chong E covers the perspective of teacher Ms.Marroquion Lopez, which allows a reader to hear and identify with. However, I wish we could hear more about how the students here at Millikian feel towards this issue to be able to hear differing perspectives. Moreover, the lingering controversy and differing opinions from the public, leads many to wonder what the response of the public will be when Bad Bunny performs at Super Bowl LX. All in all, time will tell what the outcome of Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl LX Halftime Performance will be but I am excited to tune in.

Dear Corydon Editor,
On November 4, 2025, Jade Chuong E wrote an article titled “Bad Bunny announced as Super Bowl LX Halftime Show Performer”. There have been many social media posts about Bad Bunny. I like how you included multiple perspectives, whether good or bad. Furthermore, interviewing another Spanish-speaking teacher brings more light on this controversy. I can agree with the perspective of Marroquin-Lopez, because in the U.S, there is a huge population of Spanish-speaking people, and it’s good that they are getting more representation. Moreover, the author explained the background of this controversy without bias, giving readers the freedom to generate their own opinion. I appreciate how they also included interviews from different pathways to add diversity to their article. Overall, this article is intriguing, hearing all the big controversies from only a Super Bowl half-time show, even getting backlash from our president. I think the author covered this topic very well. The writing is professional and unbiased.
Sincerely,
Natalie Gomez

While I don’t personally listen to Bad Bunny, I’m proud to see a Latino artist getting this level of recognition. The article did a great job at explaining why his performance matters, especially by highlighting his cultural influence and the reactions of teachers and students at Millikan who shared their thoughts on his impact. I liked the inclusion of Ms. Marroquin-Lopez’s perspective, as it helped connect the announcement to broader conversations about representation and language.
One suggestion I have is that it would’ve been interesting to include more students and teachers and get their opinions on the topic, especially those who feel proud of having a Spanish-speaking artist for the Super Bowl halftime show. Since Millikan has a large Hispanic and Latino population, it could add more depth to hear how students feel about the backlash and whether it affects their sense of representation.
Overall, this article was very informative, and I appreciate how it shed light on a moment that’s important for many within our school community, and even those who don’t regularly listen to Bad Bunny.

On November 4, 2025, Jade Chuong E. wrote an article titled, “Bad Bunny announced as Super Bowl LX Halftime Show Performer”. This article caught my attention because I have seen some recent online controversies regarding Bad Bunny, and I wanted to read more about what she had to say on the issue. I was curious to see whether Chuong sided with encouraging Bad Bunny as the Super Bowl performer, or if she backed the adversaries. Although the article didn’t dive into her own personal stance on this dispute, I was not disappointed, as it was interesting to see Ms. Marroquin-Lopez’s reaction to the Bad Bunny hate, as she is well known for her love of his music. This added a more emotional aspect to Jade’s piece, as we can see how fans and especially individuals of a Latinx or Hispanic background are affected by this hostility. One suggestion that I have that could enhance Chuong’s piece is including perspectives from students, specifically revolving around how their cultural confidence is impacted following the Bad Bunny comments. Is their pride as a Latinx or Hispanic culture hindered, or are they more determined to justify their heritage? Do they feel that they should be ashamed of their background, or do they feel they should be proud? This issue not only has an impact on Bad Bunny himself, but those who identify with the same culture, and it would be interesting to see the way different students’ self-identity are influenced. However, other than that, I feel that Jade brought insight to this issue very effectively, as she not only included context and background to the controversy, but added the views of supporters (Ms. M.), and opponents (Trump).

Dear Corydon Editor,
On November 4, 2025, Jade Chuong E. wrote an article titled “Bad Bunny announced as Super Bowl LX Halftime Show Performer”. The article is about the recent announcement that Bad Bunny will be playing the Super Bowl this year despite the recent political climate and hate for Latinos. I found the article interesting since I have witnessed some of the hate for Bad Bunny since he was picked. Chuong mentions how Bad Bunny has actually played the Super Bowl before in 2020, but as a guest performance along with Shakira and Jennifer Lopez. Chuong interviews Ms. Marroquin-Lopez, who mentions that there was no backlash when it was announced in 2020 that the lineup would be only Latino performers. She also mentions that because Bad Bunny is very open about politics (case and point when he cancelled all his shows in the U.S. because of the I.C.E. raids) and propaganda being pushed by our government that all Latinos need to be evicted from the U.S. is a big contributor to the controversy, which is something I heavily agree with. Chuong further proves this point by providing a statement from our current president, Donald Trump, who said picking Bad Bunny was “absolutely ridiculous.” I think explaining the controversy with a quote from our president proves why everyone is so upset about it.
Sincerely,
Adrina VIeville

I think the writer did a really great job breaking down all the reactions surrounding Bad Bunny being chosen for the 2026 Super Bowl LX halftime show. Chuong explained the controversy in a way that was easy to follow, especially how there was both praise and backlash mainly because he will be performing in Spanish. Also, I liked how the writer included quotes from students and teachers, as it shows how people in our own community are reacting.
Additionally, giving background on Bad Bunny and the influence he has had on Puerto Rican culture also helped make the story feel more complete. The writer did not ignore the criticism from political figures, which made the coverage feel honest and unbiased. It really shows how complicated this matter has become and it highlights how music, culture, and public opinion all coexist. Overall, the article was an engaging read and showed why this moment matters for representation, even if not everyone agrees with the choice.

On November 4, 2025, Jade Chuong E. wrote an article titled “Bad Bunny announced as Super Bowl LX Halftime Show Performer”. In this article, she provides an overview of Bad Bunny performing at this season’s Super Bowl as well as surrounding opinions and controversies around this news. She establishes Bad Bunny’s musical career background by including a few of his popular songs. She also includes a student’s perspective on Bad Bunny performing, mentioning representation from multicultural backgrounds and how it’s nice that he’s getting an opportunity and a chance to represent the people of his culture. The editor also includes an opinion from a Spanish teacher whose opinion differs from many people in this country who have criticized the decision for Bad Bunny to perform at the halftime show. Through this, the editor does an excellent job at addressing the complexities (two sides) of the issue as Ms. Marroquin-Lopez mentions the political background behind the issue and how it can play a role in Americans’ opinions of the situation.
One suggestion and concern that I have for the editor is to include another student or staff’s perspective that’s opposite of the teacher’s and the student’s interviewed for the article. That way, I feel it would provide more balance and illustrate the complexities of the issue even further. But in summary, the editor did a great job at summarizing the topic as well as conflicting points of view on it.
