Construction is continuing to impact students and staff alike with buildings being shut down and classrooms and events needing to be moved. Some of those major events include the homecoming carnival, the dance show, and the fashion show.
However, in recent news, the construction of the auditorium was moved to summer of 2026.
Mr. Brown, Assistant Principal, says, “The auditorium was supposed to shut down [during] spring break. But, we’ve been able to figure out a way to not have it shut down and be able to keep it open for the rest of the school year.”
One of the major events that had to be moved was the Millikan Spring Fashion Show. The fashion show has been going on for 10 years, showcasing the students within the fashion programs’ unique runway designs. This show is such a huge production, but had to be moved from the auditorium after six years and switched over to the football field even with the recent update of the auditorium construction. Updates on the fashion show’s location are in real time development, The Corydon will continue to report.

Kayla Stockstill, a junior in COMPASS, says, “We had a big few months of ‘where is our fashion show gonna be this year?’” she adds, “I’m so used to knowing where everything is… so it kind of throws me off [having the fashion show being moved to the football field.] It’s gonna be a new environment to get used to.”
Another major event that has been moved is the Millikan Spring Dance show. This is an event that showcases all the dance groups’ skills and performances. This year they had a bit of a struggle with location, initially being moved to Wilson High School, then being moved back to Millikan.
Mario Flores, Stage Technician for Millikan High School, says, “It’s all about a whole new aspect of working together as one Ram family. That’s where I like to look at it.”

Dear Corydon Editor,
On November 4th 2025, Lorelei Brennan wrote an article titled “Construction on Auditorium Gets Pushed Back”. The auditorium is a shared space for all students, and any modifications or restrictions on the space should be public information for all students. Brennan mentions the various groups of students that may be more aware about the auditorium situation, such as fashion or dance students. As a student that is not a part of those groups, I had little to no information on such construction. It is important that students are able to inform students of such projects in ways that we will understand. Brennan does an excellent job informing her fellow students of construction and which of their favorite activities this may impact. I also enjoyed the fact that she mentioned, as the Editorial Editor, that the Corydon will continue to update the students as more information regarding the activities and the construction comes up. The reassurance that these updates are happening in real-time and that there are adaptations being made emphasizes the sure tone in Brennan’s writing and journalism skills. Overall, Brennan is clearly a magnificent writer with impressive communications skills in her relationship to her audience.
Sincerely,

Dear Corydon Editor,
On November 4, 2025, Lorelei Brennan wrote an article titled “Construction On Auditorium Gets Pushed Back”. Personally, I have been concerned about the renovation of the auditorium because I am a part of the dance program here at Millikan. I have been on the team since I was a freshman and being able to experience our Spring Show on the Millikan stage is a feeling that is beyond special to me. While reading Brennan’s article, I was more than happy to hear that the location for our show will be moved back to our own stage. Brennan’s article was very well written and described the potential effects that the renovation would’ve had on the Millikan Dance Spring Show. However, it also explains how the Millikan Spring Fashion Show remains to its original plans of having the show on the football field.
Expanding on Millikan Fashion’s plans, Brennan sourced a student, who she had interviewed, that expressed that the football field will “be a new environment to get used to” (Brennan 5). This is an excellent source to use, as it comes straight from a student in the program. It is important to note how the students feel, and Brennan clearly considers their thoughts throughout her article.
Overall, I thought that Brennan’s article was great! It was very well written and the use of sources was both appropriate and thought out. I look forward to potentially reading more of Brennan’s articles and to experience these two amazing events in the spring!
Sincerely,
Gwenyth Esoy

I really like how this article uses quotes from students around campus to showcase different opinions that people have on these topics. I also enjoy how this article uses an example of a major school event that had to be moved, because this emphasizes the scale of this change that has been confirmed. I do wish that the author had chosen to include more direct effects of the construction being moved, because I feel that the article is too focused on indirect effects that will happen to events. The last thing that I wish this article included was opinions from adult personnel on campus. I feel that this could provide more insight on the construction that the author could have built more opinions and ideas off of.

This article was very informative because as an eleventh grader, I never knew that the auditorium was going to be refurbished. The author of this article does an excellent job of describing how the overall construction has affected virtually every on campus event. I also appreciate how the author explained how the construction on the auditorium impacts the spring dance and the fashion show.
Additionally, I also appreciate how the author decided to incorporate interviews from a fashion student, the assistant principal, and the stage technician. These interviews allow the reader to gain more insight about the situation. However, my only suggestion would be to include an interview from a school dancer who is concerned about the location of the spring dance. This would help the reader understand how the construction can cause stress for the dancers.
Overall, this article was very enlightening and did an amazing job of explaining how the school’s reconstruction has raised questions about the location of school events. I appreciate how the article introduces several interviews to give others a voice. Moreover, I also liked how Brennan clarified that updates on the construction will continue to be reported on. All in all, this article was very informative and interesting to read, and has helped me gain a better understanding of how the construction impacts school events.
Sincerely,

On November 4, Lorelei Brennan wrote an article titled “Construction O. Auditorium Gets Pushed Back”.Thank you for writing on important news about Millikan regarding the ongoing construction that has affected many students, and staff. I am concerned however what will happen if the construction on the auditorium during the summer cannot be completed enough for the following school year. What will happen to all the beginning of the year events that take place in the auditorium? I would have liked to hear from other students in different pathways regarding what they think about the push back on the auditorium. I also agree with Kayla Stockhill that it will be a huge change for the people performing in the auditorium to get used to a new environment and it would be helpful to hear more about what the fashion and dance teachers think about their dilemmas. Adding differing perspectives from a student, assistant principle, and a stage technician helps to get a general feeling about how people view this construction and how it will be affecting many differing groups of people.

When I came across this article, I noticed that it had a solid structure that made sense to the student body. Not only does she ask for students’ perspectives, but she also provides facts given by our dean of students. Providing examples to illustrate why the auditorium construction has been pushed back, because it’s affecting the campus more than they thought it would at first. I do agree that our construction has been impacting the students and staff on many levels, but most importantly, it has minimized school events due to limited space. When I heard that the dance was unable to perform their spring show at school, I felt horrible because they would have to go perform at another school. As well as our biggest school event, the fashion show. I felt that this would take a toll on the attendance for these events, being that they wouldn’t be at Millikan. Losing the auditorium for all the events in spring would not only impact the dancers and those in fashion but also as stage crew, having to figure out everything at a different venue, which could lead to many issues. Being that the construction is now in the summer, I think that it is helping out a lot, but will it be done in time for orientations? Since I am in ASB, orientation comes with a lot of planning and takes up a lot of our summer. So knowing an end time to the auditorium construction would be vital. Thank you for taking the time to update the students on the construction around the school!

Your writer did a great job notifying the audience about the different events that will be affected due to the pushback of construction. The writer also did an amazing job utilizing pathos in their article. She did this by having quotes of students worried they were not gonna be able to perform this year. The writer did a nice job informing the audience where the fashion show is actually gonna be this year. It was interesting figuring out the performance is going to be on the football field. They won’t be able to manipulate the lighting and have the huge curtains adding another aspect to the show. I like how the writer gave multiple examples of events that were going to be negatively affected because of the construction, like how they were going to move the Millikan Spring Dance Show to Wilson. The writer did a good job getting the voice from an adult tied into the events as well, so it’s not only students who feel tihs way.

Dear Corydon Editor,
On November 4, 2025, Lorelei Brennan wrote an article titled “Construction on Auditorium Gets Pushed Back”. This article is well written, providing the usage of professional and direct language for the reader. I also appreciate its very informative yet concise structure. It answers the question about the Millikan Auditorium’s relocation, which was once a vague and fairly unclear answer. It also does an extremely good job in its usage of quoting three credible figures related to the topic. Interviewing people who are close to the matter yet share different perspectives (Assistant Principal, Student, and Stage Technician) provides further insight into the topic and its impact.
One suggestion that would strengthen the description of the construction’s impact would be to mention other productions held in the auditorium, specifically the spring musical. In addition to the fashion show and dance performances, the drama production is a significant part of the Millikan auditorium. The future construction of the auditorium would also severely impact the musical production. However, as Brennan mentions, the construction is pushed back and will still be available for the remainder of the semesters, which gives the reader hope for the future of the events and entertainment of the 2025-2026 school year.
Lastly, my reaction to Brennan’s article was one of surprise and intrigue. As I read, I was shocked to see how long the Millikan fashion show has been performed for. I was also very surprised to see the different places the show has been relocated to in the past, such as the Millikan football field, and even to an entirely different school’s campus. It seems like the delayed construction of the auditorium was a positive choice that benefited the traditions of the students in the performing arts programs.
Sincerely,
Emily Guzman

On November 4, 2025, Lorelei Brennan wrote an article titled “Construction On Auditorium Gets Pushed Back.” I want to thank her for writing this article regarding the construction of the auditorium. As someone who loves the Millikan Spring Fashion Show it’s great to know that it might be moved to the football field. If that information is accessible, it would be nice to know if it’s confirmed that the fashion show will be held on the football field. I appreciate how she included information on the fashion show because I am going to participate in the show this year and I had been wondering where it would be located.
The news of the new anticipated location of the fashion show is exciting. There is more space on the football field and guests can sit on the bleachers. Since some major school events have been moved, has the usual date of the events also been moved? Including information on the dates of events like the Millikan Spring Fashion show and the Millikan Spring Dance show would be useful.
I want to thank Brennan again for writing this article, the information in it was very helpful. I am looking forward to both the fashion show and dance show. The new location of the fashion show seems interesting.
