One of our very own Ram seniors has created a name for himself with a humble beginning in his very own backyard.
PEACE senior Sasha Mejia, or more formally known by many as DJ Sasha, has shown out with his DJ-ing skills at many school events such as the Dance Invitational, the homecoming carnival, football games, rallies, and more. His first hurrah, however, was DJing with his uncle at his own 4th of July party four years ago.

“My biggest inspiration is my uncle, who taught me how to DJ at one of our family functions,” says Mejia.
Immediately after the summer, he went to talk to the one key person that paved a way for his rise to Ram fame: Mario Flores, Stage Crew Teacher. He explains that his predecessor, Bob Brigham, who was his teacher at Millikan expressed the clear understanding of any teaching job: Kids come first. Ever since then, he’s tried his best to give everyone an opportunity to become something if they want it.
“At the end of the day, all I gave him initially was an open space and a platform. The rest is him breaking out of his shell and flying though it all with confidence. The biggest thing was becoming DJ Sasha which really helped us in our program, its phenomenal what he’s accomplished,” Flores says.
“I wouldn’t be able to do any of this without Mario Flores or Mr. Robinson, it’s all because of them,” said Mejia who added that his success is nothing without his audience.
“Thank you to everyone who has sung to the songs and nodded their heads to the music, it all means so much to me,” he says.
DJ Sasha adds that he would like to DJ in the future, whether at night clubs or bars, he hopes he can continue playing the music he loves.

For now, you can find him at football games as the man behind the music as well as at rallies, dance shows, and even just genre-themed DJ days at Millikan during lunch.
The future is bright for this Millikan Ram!

I found this article on the Corydon to be outstanding because it gives us how DJ Sasha has developed his interest and rise to popularity over time. Emphasis on how the people around him made him able to build his confidence helps us as readers realize that just a little bit of support and hard work can help us live our passion. Sastyangkul’s article made me understand that support and encouragement can be found almost everywhere, considering that DJ Sasha found his support at Millikan. As a student of Millikan High School, I’ve had the proud opportunity of experiencing DJ Sasha’s performances in person, being just a fraction of the other hyped-up students that was mentioned by Sastyangkul.
The direct quotes from Sasha himself also helps us notice that we as the audience play as much a role to his success as he does. I wish there was at least one interview with one of the students at Millikan who have seen Sasha’s performances in person because the majority of the audience would relate and can connect with their thoughts. In the end, I admire how this article captured the ability to make this an inspiring article, hoping to spark that fire in others who have dreams and aspirations that they wish they could achieve.

I came across this while going through the recent articles from the Corydon, and her description of Sasha Mejia and his journey to becoming our school’s well-known DJ was intriguing. Sastyankul gives insight to Meija’s passion for music and his inspirations for becoming a DJ. For example, she explains how Meija’s uncle is his biggest inspiration, and is the one who taught him how to DJ. She then goes on to explain the where he started in becoming Millikam’s DJ, and where he is now. I admire how she is able to give clear steps of Meija’s journey, while also showing his motivation and love for his life of becoming a DJ.
Sastyankul also does a great job of illustrating how some of Millikan’s staff was able to step in to help Meija achieve his goals. She describes how Mario Flores, the Stage Crew teacher at Millikan played a key role in Meija’s success at Millikan, and how he always tries “…his best to give everyone an opportunity to become something if they want it.” The way she is able to show these strong connections between staff and students at Millikan, especially between Meija and Mario Flores, gives a better insight to the support that students at Millikan have available to them. Altogether, Sastyankul’s article on Sasha Meija’s road to becoming a DJ offered a deeper look into his love for what he does, and allows us to have more appreciation for his hard work and dedication to our school.

Dear Corydon Editor,
On November 4 2025, Brina Sastyangkul wrote a very insightful article. Her article does an outstanding job at highlighting the importance of DJ Sasha and how he has created new opportunities for all Millikan students. I love how she included personal quotes from Mejia, which explain the origin of his DJ journey. Not only does she include images of DJ Sasha in action, but she also explains how his DJ journey has opened a whole new world for all current and incoming students.
One slight improvement that could be made in the article would be adding more information on how having a school DJ strengthens the community and brings people together. For example, explaining how people connect through music would be a perfect addition to this wonderful article. Overall, the article does a great job at describing the importance of becoming what you want to be.
Sincerely,
Isabella Rodriguez

As a Quest junior, the school days feel as though they are getting longer and harder to get through each week. I always appreciated the mystery music lifting up moods at lunch, rallies, carnivals, and more. I never thought to look into the talent behind the music but this article has taught me something new. I really admire the way Sastyangkul highlighted a fellow Ram and shared his talents with the school. I know that similarly to me, many other Millikan students love DJ Sasha’s music but did not know it came from him. It’s great to give credit to such a skilled artist! A specific excerpt I was very engaged in was when Sasha described how he got into DJing. The use of quotes from Sasha and storytelling by Sastyangkul go so well together. It is an inspiring story of just applying yourself and working hard to get where you want in life. DJ Sasha did not start out at 5 years old as a musical genius, he worked for it over four years.

I recently stumbled upon this article while perusing the Corydon, and thought it would be an interesting read. Sastyangkul shines a light on Sasha’s backstory and how he was initially inspired to begin DJ-ing, stating that “My biggest inspiration is my uncle, who taught me how to DJ at one of our family functions.” I love how she provides a clear background of his career and how he is able to leave his mark on Millikan and our spirit days, “you can find him at football games as the man behind the music as well as at rallies, dance shows, and even just genre-themed DJ days at Millikan during lunch.” In addition, I love the addition of multiple faculty and teachers providing their outlook on Sasha and how he has inspired them. This article gave me an insight into how supportive the Millikan community can be in trying to push forward an individual’s career like Sasha’s. All in all, the article provides a clear story of Sasha, from his beginnings to his time at Millikan, and his hopes of making a career out of this skill in the future.

This article really struck me as an interesting and informative piece. I had noticed DJ: Sascha as a familiar face at all the big events around campus, but I was unaware of his claim to fame or what steps he took to get there. The author did a wonderful job answering these questions for me throughout the article by using quotes and facts about DJ Sascha.
The inclusion of images throughout the article is also very admirable, and it helps enhance the article tremendously. The reason I clicked on the article was because of the picture on the front cover. However, the other two images included in the article are excellent as well.
Sastyangkul should continue to use these types of images in her pieces in the future because it was truly a great addition.
Through the use of the interview of Mario Flores, I was able to learn more about the steps DJ: Sashsa took to get to where he is now. The author informed me well that even though Sascha might have been given a good platform to start on, he did most of the work himself to become someone everyone knows around campus.
Sastyangkul did a wonderful job writing this article, but one thing she could have provided to make it more thorough is an interview of a student at Millikan. This would make the article more connected to the student body. As someone who has wondered who Sascha was prior to reading this, I would like to know what other students think of him to see if we are on the same page. Furthermore, I believe this would not only give the writer more credibility but it would give depth to the piece. As a whole, this article was phenomenal, and the author did a great job incorporating many different strategies in her writing.
Sincerely,
Sarah Buss

Reading this article was very informative as I always wondered the origin of how “DJ Sasha” came to be. Before Millikan I never had djs at school, and if I did have music during school it was controlled by a staff member. I find it inspiring that one of our very own students is able to build and grow a future job at such a young age.
Props to the editor this was a great topic to explore and an amazing way to highlight a hard working student. It also shows how he is different from the rest in a good way and we can all take from him. Not only does it highlight Sasha, it highlights the helpful teachers, Mario and Mr. Robinson. Supportive staff like these two are people who pave the way to make every student’s future brighter. Also, having real quotes embedded in the article was a great choice because I got to see how each participant truly felt in this journey.
I feel this article also had a hidden purpose in encouraging kids that possibly have the same up-bringing as DJ Sasha to step forward and embrace their passion.
Once again this was a necessary article to show appreciation towards Sasha as well as inspirational and informative. I learned something I didn’t know and it helped me know where to look out for him at next events and realize which teachers to go to when in need of support similar to this.
