With a lot of hard work and perseverance, the Millikan JV baseball team were able to come out on top, and were undefeated in the Moore League. This means that they are Moore League champions.
For the Millikan JV baseball team, the season didn’t start off as planned. Athletes had to wear masks while they played and only a limited number of family members could watch them play.
For a few months, playing the sport you deeply loved was pushed back until further notice. Many games were missed, tryouts were held much later, and teams weren’t made until about March.

Millikan JV baseball team waits for a runner coming into home.
Ethan Emami, a QUEST sophomore, states, “Coming out of quarantine, all of us were a little bit rusty. We really struggled in our pre-season games, but with great coaching and hard work we got back on track very quickly.”
Even though there were many challenges, the team clearly got back on track as soon as possible. They played teams such as Wilson, Poly, and Lakewood each four times. They have also played against Katella, La Mirada, Kennedy, Cabrillo, Pacifica, and a few more high schools. This is different considering the schedule was greatly reduced, compared to what would have been called a normal season.
Head Coach Lisa Beato says, “With the oddest of times with obstacles at every turn, the JV boys have executed in fundamentals… I am very proud of their accomplishments, we reached our goal to win league.”
When the coach was asked what she would say to the team, she said “Fly balls are outs.”

I totally agree with this because I could not play basketball with my team for almost half a year and then our league got shut down again because of too many Covid cases.
