Mario Flores, the Stage Technician for Millikan High School, is back! He has officially returned to his home with Stage Crew after five months.
“It feels great to be back! I love Millikan and I’m just happy to be back,” he says with a lot of excitement, looking forward to working on the next big events at Millikan (such as senior celebrations).

Even when Mario was gone, that didn’t stop the Stage Crew from getting their job done. They worked on many events such as ASB activities, Night Markets, as well as the Winter play and Spring Musical.
As much as Stage Crew were able to complete these activities, it definitely wasn’t easy for the team without Mario’s guidance. Luckily, the stage crew had some help from Mr. Robinson, the ASB director at Millikan.
Mr. Robinson says, “This entire situation has opened my eyes up to how much of a valuable assist our Stage Crew students are to our school community. They provide the behind-the-scenes work needed that allows us to run amazing student-led events.”
When asked why Mario was absent for a long period of time, Mrs. Moreland says “”Personnel issues are confidential”
Jake Fizpatrick, a senior in SEGA and light board operator says, “I’m very glad Mario is back. He provides our team with a lot of opportunities. We’ve been missing him.”
Mario has been working with Stage Crew for six years, taking over one of his biggest inspirations, Bob Brighams’ spot. Mario has been such a big asset to not just the Stage Crew team, but also to our school. Without him, so many of our events wouldn’t be possible. Welcome back Mario!

On May 30, 2025, Lorelei Brennan wrote an article titled “Mario is back!”. Brennan did an exceptional job of demonstrating our appreciation to Mario as he deserves this recognition. This article also informed the audience that the reason he was gone for a while was because of personal reasons. I appreciate that Brennan included this because I was wondering why I did not see him during my orchestra concerts. Additionally, Brennan included Mr. Robinson’s statement on the value of Mario working stage crew. I find this important to inform because Mario’s work is vital to keep school events running smoothly, and more students should be informed about the work that is done behind the scenes. In my personal experience the absence of Mario has been noticeable as I am in Millikan’s Chamber orchestra and for chamber night, it wasn’t as decorated as it was in previous years since Mario was absent at that time. I enjoyed reading this article because it showed how many students and staff members missed his absence and appreciate the work he does. Furthermore, I admire how Brennan wrote that even when Mario was gone, Millikan’s stage crew was still getting the work done to recognize that the stage crew’s job is vital. Overall, Brennan wrote a well informed article that should be read, so all students can appreciate stage crews’ work.

On May 27, 2025, Lorelei Brennan wrote an article titled “Mario is back.” As someone who frequently uses the stage due to being an active participant in drama and having interacted with stage crew, I found this article particularly important to discuss. This year, the stage crew stepped it up with sets, props, and communication between the drama department and the stage. Without a clear supervisor, it was a lot more difficult to get things done, and I often painted parts of sets or helped out with the building process.
Despite this, the stage crew was able to successfully put on stage plays Clue and the musical Grease, not to mention the countless dance performances, choir shows, and outside competitions that rented the stage.
It is a great relief to have the original stage manager back, but the important work of these students creates a perfect machine that many parts of the school rely on.
Thank you for this very informative article.

On May 29, 2025, Lorelei Brennan wrote an article titled “Mario is back!”. In this article Bennan informs the stage technician arrival after leaving work for some personal reasons. This article was one that caught my attention when scrolling through the Cordyon because I know Mario more personal than other students. This is because I have worked with Mario to help with the “562 Night Market” which is an event that I have been doing for many years. I have always known that Mario is a very underrated staff member in Millikan. Brennan highlights the importance Mario has around the school that many people don’t know about, something that needed to be said. I also enjoyed the interview with Mr. Robinson said how without Mario, planning events were much harder. An extraordinary factor that the author also included was the fact that when Mario was not at school, stage crew made sure everything was still running. This shows the importance of stage crew that many people overlook. Overall Brennan wrote a much needed, inspiring article on someone incredibly important to our Millikan community.
