Millikan’s girls Beach Volleyball just dove into their season! With great expectations met from the indoor fall season, they are excited for an even better beach season with Coach Antoinette and the Lady Rams.

In preparation for this season, the players have been working hard on their skills with lots of conditioning along with working on mental and spiritual wellness which consists of many breathing exercises and yoga days. There has also been an emphasis on team bonding to ensure a well-rounded team and improve sportsmanship, like a fun trip together to Dave & Buster’s!
One of the Varsity players, Bella Bonales, a sophomore in PEACE said, “My expectations are to win as much as we can and not go down without a fight against good teams, and to never let a team win against us, they need to earn it”.
The transition from indoor volleyball to the sand can be difficult for athletes who have primarily played indoor, but many of the girls have played both year-round. Those unfamiliar have to adjust to the sand, with learning how to run and jump taking time to develop their muscles for defence and receiving.
Head Coach Antoinette states, “I’d say the biggest challenge as a coach is making sure that everyone stays healthy and is taking care of their bodies as well as keeping up with their schoolwork.”
For their past two games they’ve won against Warren and taken a loss from Wilson which placed them at 2nd for CIF, stay tuned for the rest of their season, be sure to check out the Millikan Girls Volleyball Instagram page!

On April 4th, 2025, Dani Dominguez wrote an article titled “Sand, Sun, and Spikes!” After reading the article, I found it to be interesting and inspiring. The writer did an amazing job analyzing the excitement around the beginning of the Millikan Girls Beach Volleyball season. I enjoyed that the article focused not only on physical training of volleyball, but also on the importance of mental and spiritual wellness. I also find it interesting that the team works on things like breathing exercises and yoga as part of their warm-up.
One part that stood out to me was the quote from Bella Bonales. Her determination to never give up and make opponents earn their wins really proves the team’s good mindse and sportsmanship. I also thought Coach Antoinette’s perspective was impactful, especially when she talked about the challenge of keeping players healthy and balancing schoolwork.
I think it would be interesting if future articles included more personal stories about the players, like how they got started or what their goals are. It would help readers connect more with the team. Overall, Dani Dominguez does an amazing job on the topic of the Millikan Girls Beach Volleyball season and how it works.
