Our Ram Track and Field team started their season off strong with their dual track meet at Mira Costa on Feb. 22 and their track meet against Lakewood on Feb. 26 where Millikan scored 134 points beating Lakewood.
For the Lakewood dual, the throwers for shot put had Gomez with 1st place throwing 40’ 3” Ryan Carter with 2nd place throwing 39′ 8.
Cesar Gomez, a sophomore in QUEST and Saniyah Johnson, a freshman in COMPASS are throwers (of discus and shot put) for the field team and are so grateful to be on the team. Both Gomez and Johnson agree that the season has been going well so far and that they have the potential to earn Moore League Titles.

Coach Perry is the throwing coach at Millikan and has been coaching here for about 25 years, he expresses how much of a joy it’s been for him to coach this throwing team. He says, “They’ve worked their butts off for this sport. I really think we’re gonna have a great rest of the season.”
A big meet the team had was the California Relays at Wilson on Mar. 14-15th, 2025. Our runners, Kaiyo Berhanu got 2nd place for the high jump race and Bryce Cobabe with 3rd place for the 800 meter run. As well as Kayla Rose Simon, Arabella Jaramillo, Amelia Samudio, and Audrey Hutcherson getting 2nd for the 4 by 200 relay race.
Runners Kaden Jones, a junior in MBA and Audrey Hutcherson a junior in PEACE talk about how great it’s been for them being a part of this team. Hutcherson says, “I really have grown such a passion for this sport honestly, I would have never thought I would love this sport as much as I do now,” Jones says, “I hope for no injuries and new and greater PR’s (Personal Records) That’s pretty much all we go for.”
Their most recent track meet was a dual meet against Poly on March 26th.
The next track meet will be the dual meet against Jordan on April 9th at Jordan High.
