UPDATE AS OF 9/15/25
According to a Los Angeles Times article that was released this morning, “Eight football transfer students from Long Beach Millikan have been declared ineligible in the latest crackdown by the Southern Section, according to the section’s transfer portal…The Millikan players received a two-year suspension for violating CIF bylaw 202, which involves providing false information.” Two emails were sent to the boys Athletic Director asking for a comment, but have not received a response.
The 562.org website released an article on September 5th about the Millikan Varsity Football team. The article “Millikan Forfeits Two Games Over Ineligible Player”, stated that “According to a message sent to parents Friday morning, Millikan has confirmed that the first two varsity football games of the 2025-26 season have been forfeited due to the participation of an ineligible player, as required under CIF-SS rules.”
Also according to the 562’s article, “Players who transfer can also gain eligibility by submitting to the CIF-SS’ Sit Out Period, which requires them to miss several games to start the year”. According to the CIF-SS’ transfer page, 8 of the 15 transfer players Millikan has picked up are listed in the “sit-out period” or as ‘inactive’, ‘incomplete’ or ‘under review’. It is speculated that one of those eight players in those categories played when they were not supposed to. The name of the ineligible player is yet to be named.

This is the 2nd time in a span of 3 seasons that Millikan has had to forfeit games over an ineligible player. The most recent occurrence being in 2022, when they were forced to forfeit 4 games and also had Head Coach Romeo Pellum suspended, but returned later that season.
Millikan’s two forfeited games this year are a 27-14 win against Foothill in Las Vegas back in Week 0 and a 49-20 win over Newbury Park in Week 1. Millikan hosts Cabrillo on Friday at 7 pm to continue their season, now at 0-4 after the forfeited games and a loss to Downey.

I recently read this article while exploring the latest news posted on Corydon, and thought it to be an excellent example of why following school rules is extremely important. His article reports on how some Millikan High School football players have violated CIF bylaw 202 by giving out incorrect information about themselves. Luc’s proficient writing fully demonstrates the ever increasing importance of honesty, by demonstrating the consequences if one chooses to lie.
Luc goes further into detail about this issue by providing the previous occurrences, and the results that followed. After reading this article fully, I was left with how this news affects Millikan as a whole and what it means for the football team moving forward. Overall his attention to detail and thorough explanations define why he can be a trusted source of information regarding Millikan High School news.
