The 2025 NFL Draft was held during the weekend of Apr. 24-26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin, which is held every NFL offseason and gives teams the chance to select new, young, talented college stars to add to the team for the future.
The most intriguing headline of this draft was about former University of Colorado quarterback, Shedeur Sanders, the son of former dual-sport athlete (NFL and MLB) Deion Sanders. Sanders was a standout in college football, specifically at Colorado.
Entering the draft, Shedeur was ranked the second best quarterback and the thirty-fifth best overall player. This resulted in NFL analysts predicting him to be drafted early in the first round, but as the draft went on, Shedeur just waited and waited.
At the beginning of the third round, a video surfaced on social media of a teenager impersonating the general manager of the New Orleans Saints, Mickey Loomis, prank calling Shedeur on a private phone he was given just for the draft. In short, it was revealed that Jax Ulbrich, the son of Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich, was the culprit behind the prank call to Shedeur. Videos and audios of the call were released later on to confirm this.
Shedeur was finally drafted by the Cleveland Browns with the sixth pick of the fifth round, pick number 144 overall. After the draft concluded, the Atlanta Falcons posted a statement on ESPN’s Instagram account. The statement had described the culprit of the call, Jax Ulbrich and read, “The Atlanta Falcons do not condone this behavior and send our sincere apologies to Shedeur Sanders and his family…, as well as an apology directly from Jax to the Sanders family.”
Dominic Palma, a QUEST junior, plays as a defensive end on the Millikan Varsity football team and he said his favorite team is the Raiders, he said, “I think we [the Raiders] hit on all of our draft picks.” He also said, “Ashton Jeanty is going to be amazing to watch if we have a consistent offensive-line this season.”
Other notable selections in this years draft include University of Miami quarterback Cam Ward being drafted by the Tennessee Titans with the first overall pick, Colorado two-position standout (receiver and cornerback) Travis Hunter being drafted second overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty being drafted seventh overall by the Las Vegas Raiders.
The 2025 NFL Draft was one to remember with many emotional ups and downs for avid football fans!

On May 27, 2025, Luc Niren wrote an article titled “NFL Draft Review”. Niren did a great job of giving a recap of the major headlines of the 2025 NFL Draft. He explained the Shaduer Sanders situation very clearly. I think he could have included some conspiracies as to why Sanders fell to the fifth round. He brings up where the most exciting college football player landed. Niren also did a great job explaining the fake phone call that Shauder Sanders got from the son of Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator and the aftermath of the situation. He also did a great job incorporating an outside perspective, it really added to the article. But, I do think that he could have gotten more perspectives from people with different favorite teams. Overall, Niren does a great job explaining where the big names landed and what the major headlines were surrounding the draft, such as Shaduer Sanders falling to the fifth round, four rounds later than he was expected to go.

The article was well written on its coverage of the NFL 2025 draft of the season. I only knew the coverage for the Raven’s side of the draft so this article was helpful in giving me insight on the other teams and their new draftees. I was unaware of the prank call on the player Shedur Sanders, and that situation as well. The draft this year was an eventful one as many picks were selected by many teams that will make an exciting season.
One concern I have about the article is that there is not much other coverage for other teams than the ones mentioned near the end of the article. The article could have been more thorough than it was on the coverage of the other teams, as the majority of the article is about the Shedur Sanders situation. and all though that was important as it was an event that happened it doesn’t mean a whole lot for the draft as a whole.
Overall the article on the 2025 NFL Draft by Luc Niren was a good article as it covers the Shedur Sanders situation, and the draft for the other teams who got good picks, however the article does lack in information for the other teams than the ones mentioned near the end, it was very much a good article over all.
