As Millikan prepares for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year, fall sports and activities have started hosting tryouts between now and summer. Let’s look at the upcoming dates.
Starting this spring, Cheer is having tryouts from Apr. 7th-11th from 3:45 to 5:00 and Dance is hosting tryouts Apr. 29th-30th at 4:00 p.m. In order to try out for cheer, first you have to sign up for the google classroom using the code “IZ5KXDP” and then go through the paperwork and forms with a parent or guardian. Parents needed to attend the Zoom meeting Mar. 26th allowing you to attend the in-person tryouts listed above. Dance also has a mandatory parent meeting on Apr. 8th at 5:30 p.m.

While tryouts may be scary for incoming freshmen, they do get easier as each year comes. Milan Blanco, the varsity cheer captain and a senior in COMPASS said, “The tryout process has gotten less scary throughout the four years I have been on the team. All the other cheerleaders here also made it a process where you can have lots of fun.”
Girls Flag Football and Tennis host tryouts during and throughout the summer but haven’t selected dates yet. Details should be announced throughout May and early Summer. Volleyball has returning player tryouts on May 28th and May 30th during 8th period in the small gym, with incoming freshman tryouts on July 14th-15th from 8-10 a.m. in the big gym. Girls Basketball doesn’t have tryouts during summer, but does have a summer practice that incoming students can join that can help you get on the team later on.
Fall boys sports such as Football, Tennis, and Water Polo haven’t selected dates either. If interested, the Boys Water Polo team has ongoing tryouts during their summer program from July 7th-July 24th. Football and Tennis are still to be determined.
As for Cross Country, they are hosting tryouts throughout summer starting in July and ending after the school year starts. This is because Head Coach Ramirez will scout for kids from P.E. classes.
One of last year’s country runners and a SEGA sophomore, Thiago Sobremesana explains the tryout process, “Since we haven’t ran in a while, you would start slow and work your way up. [This would] get you ready to run the trial which is three miles.”
If you’re interested in any of these, keep up on the sports Instagrams to stay in the loop. You can contact the coaches or if you know current players, you can contact them as well. We will keep you updated when we receive information on the chart below.
