The 2024-2025 Rams Varsity Football Moore League season has gotten off to a great start with the varsity Rams having six wins with only two losses. Their latest victory was against Long Beach Poly where they beat them with a powerful running game and stellar defense. This was the first time in 15 years the Rams managed to complete this feat!
Millikan is looking to keep their winning streak alive, currently on a six game winning streak, looking for the seventh.
Millikan’s running star and SEGA senior Anthony League has been one of the standout players on offense this season. League has had incredible stats through the first eight games of the season putting up 1204 rushing yards and 244 receiving yards. He is one of the main reasons why the Rams have been so successful this season.
The Millikan quarterback, QUEST senior JP Mialovski is in his second year in the starting rotation and has been improving after every single start. Time and time again, Mialovski has shown up for this team and pushed the offense to victory after victory.
The Rams defense has also been doing their job with linebacker and SEGA senior Sirr Bible giving the opposing offenses lots of trouble with his 31 solo tackles, 44 total tackles and one fumble recovery, making scoring seem very difficult for the opposing side.
Millikan is in a very great position in the Moore league being ranked in first place out of seven total teams in the league.
“The team together has been practicing really hard, being physically and mentally prepared. We are most definitely ready for Lakewood this week,” says MBA senior and football player Liki Lotulelei.
Millikan has just won the Moore League trophy against Lakewood High School last Friday on 10/18, winning the game 69-28. This week the Rams will have their very last Moore League game against Compton on 10/25, with it being their senior night and Homecoming Night. If the Rams proceed to win, they will have a spot in the CIF for a chance to win the CIF Championship. It’s going to be a very exciting last game!

Dear Corydon Editor,
On October 29, 2024, Ethan Franco wrote a principal article titled, Millikan Football’s Fantastic Season. This article effectively explained the 2024-2025 football team’s impressive moments, with a winning streak of 6 consecutive WINS. I believe this is one of if not the best years Millikan has done recently, with Millikan running star Anthony League. Furthermore, it praises all the key people from their QB, and to all of their teammates. This article emphasizes all their best moments, clutches, and hard-working dedication to soar their winning streak.
In addition, to their win against Lakewood with a score of 69-28, Franco elaborates their football team currently has one of their most important games against Compton in the Moore League, which Franco accentuates if the football team wins this match against Compton on 10/25, they’ll have a shot at competing in one of the most influential games they’ll play; the CIF, and perhaps even win the CIF Championships. I believe this year’s football team can create a change and win most, if not all games they’ll play this year.
Sincerely,
Deshan Ranaweera

On October 29, 2024, Ethan Franco wrote an article titled “Millikan Football’s Fantastic Season”. I found this article to be very upbringing and motivating to the audience and players themselves. I personally think the Rams have a very good chance at winning a CIF championship. Key players such as Mialovski, League, Bible, and Lotulelei are all main reasons this team has gotten so far and done so well. I personally, was at the poly game and the energy was through the roof, all night. It was the game of the week. I do admit it was a tough battle at first but once we got ahead and kept the lead, they couldn’t come back, the crowd was ecstatic. I enjoyed reading this article because it gives recognition to the players and coaches who have worked hard all season to get to this point and now have the chance to win big. Go Rams!

Dear Corydon Editor,
This was a interesting article to read because when you mention the win after 15 years against poly, that had surprised me really good as I thought Milikan was on par with Poly, but I guess I was wrong. I was also surprised about who is carrying the most in this article, Anthony League is really crazy to hear about as he is the one that “standed out.” I also have to give kudos to you as you had mentioned the many feats that the Millikan team was doing, especially from one person, Siir Bible doing, “31 solo tackles, 44 total tackles and one fumble recovery, making scoring seem very difficult for the opposing side.”
Even though the game for Compton had passed, I still don’t know who won and I wanna hope that Millikan won so they can advance to the CIE Championship and this article makes it sound like they won! I just have a question and that is, will you make an article for the Millikan team when they get to CIE Championships and how they are doing? Thank You for making this article so I can hear about how great our Millikan Football Team is doing.
Sincerely,
Maycol Serrano

I liked this article because it caught me up on the games that I had missed, and probably did the same for others. The statistics he used throughout the article like the “1204 rushing yards” helped me to understand how well Millikan has been playing beyond their win count. I think that the timing of the article could’ve been better, if it was written after the final game, in order to have an overview of the whole season.
Something else I enjoyed was the mention of specific students in order to show who was performing the best. The quote from one of the players helped support the idea that they were preparing for the game against Compton on homecoming night. Mentions of specific scores and games further helped readers to understand Millikan’s success.
Something that could have helped the article is if they brought up the losses to show why they lost. They also could have given more scores for the games. furthermore in the intro i could not tell if the author meant this is the first time in fifteen years that millikan beat poly, or the first time in fifteen years that millikan got a win streak of six.
