Welcome Rams and all lovers of America’s national sport, baseball. It’s officially baseball season for the Rams!
Weightlifting for the team started in August, Fall baseball in September, and competitions in Las Vegas and Palm Desert, these boys are ready. Varsity has also had various scrimmages in preparation for the season which has gone pretty well so far.
MBA Junior, Anthony Pack, and varsity athlete said, “We have been winning a lot of games, we are just cleaning up little things, and the teams we have lost to have generally only been by one run.” For the official season, they are on a four-game win streak with various turnouts with scores ranging from 1-0 against Fountain Valley to 9-1 against Edison High School.
Preseason Opening Day took place on Saturday, Feb. 3, at 9 am here at Millikan. The day kicked off with the Frosh/Soph team facing JV. JV won with a score of 4-2, but Frosh showed up and put up a good fight with the game being tied for a good portion of the game. This game was followed by an hour of batting practice for the alumni in preparation for a noon game. At noon, the second game took place which was our varsity team versus the alumni where varsity won 3-1.
As their season kicks off, their main focus is going to be “generating runs and just not leaving anyone on base,” said Pack.
Their first official game of the season was on Saturday, Feb. 10, against Fountain Valley. They won with a score of 1-0. Their second game took place on Monday, Feb. 12 against Warren High School where they started a winning streak with a final score of 4-1. Their win streak currently continues after their fourth game.
These Rams will continue to have games until the season ends on Apr. 26 against Long Beach Poly. They do not plan on stopping there.
“We would love to win the Moore League and go to the playoffs to win a CIF title again,” said Mr. Keester, the head baseball coach.
Mr. Keester has been a part of the program for over 15 years, starting in the 2006-2007 season. He hopes to be able to compete at the highest level with the team and to use their talent in the most strategic and effective ways. Despite being a young team, Keester believes his team is very skilled and has a great chance this season.
“We are coming for the Moore League this year,” said Pack very confidently. Baseball games are free to watch so make sure to check the schedule and come support our Rams! We wish you the best of luck boys!

On Feburary 26, 2024, Arianna Garcia wrote an article titled “Swinging into Action, MIllikan Baseball Team Off To A Hot Start”. Garcia’s skillfully crafted article discusses the brewing excitement and anticipation for the 2023-2024 Boys Baseball season. Garcia introduces an interview between her and Anthony Pack, a varsity athlete who explains their success is through doing the little things correct and the defeats being usually only by one run. Garcia next develops her claim by giving an overview of the baseball team has been doing recently regarding their playing form. This article is extremely inciteful and invokes excitement in me regarding watching the Boy’s Baseball games. While I am not a avid baseball fan, this article stir curiosity into how the sport works as well as observing good teams such as the Millikan Boys baseball team. Overall, Garcia’s article demonstrates strong writing prowess and the ability to draw readers into her article’s.

On February 26, 2024, Arianna Garcia wrote an article titled “Swinging Into Action: Millikan’s Baseball Team Off to a Hot Start”. Her article discusses the Millikan baseball boys’ explosive start to the spring season. As Millikan progresses throughout their season, they are demonstrating huge signs of potentially reaching CIF this year. Arianna writes that during an interview with Millikan’s only D1 commit, Anthony Pack, that the boys just need to clean up a few things in order to have a successful season. He claims that most of the teams the program has lost to have been by nearly a run or two, implying how close the Rams are when down on the scoreboard. Ariana does exceptionally well throughout the article by also including JV and frosh/soph updates. To kick start their season, JV outshined the freshman squad and ended the day with a victory 4-2. Ms. Garcia completes the article flawlessly when writing about how Keester has been a part of the program for nearly 15 years and desires to go after the Moore league this year.
Arianna Garcia does a good job establishing how the baseball program is preparing to succeed this season, and bring a CIFchampionship home this year.
Sincerely,
