This past September, Schwarz verbally committed to UC Davis for diving and in November, officially signed. She has been diving competitively for 4 years and practices for about 15 hours a week.
“The whole process was about a year and a half long,” states Schwarz, “I began emailing with about 20 different coaches at the beginning of junior year. I updated these coaches about my progress throughout junior year. I began to narrow down my schools to about four different schools and decided that Davis was the school for me.”
In terms of choosing a school to commit, Schwarz never had a specific dream school in mind. Due to this, she went through the process of reaching out and researching various schools in order to explore what each had to offer. According to Schwarz, “Davis was the best fit for me academically and athletically.”
Set to attend UC Davis in the fall, Schwarz wants to maintain a heavy practice schedule and good performance in school. As for diving, Schwarz states, “I would love to make the travel team and to qualify for Zones in college.” Zones is a big diving competition that divers have to qualify for at a prior meet.
Like many talented athletes, Schwarz did not get to where she is all by herself. “In my life my biggest inspiration has always been my mother,” says Schwarz, “She is the strongest, most caring person I know and I have always looked up to her.”
